General questions
Answers to common questions about what EZ Logs is, the hardware and phones it needs, pricing, languages and privacy.
What is EZ Logs?
An electronic logging device (ELD) platform for US motor carriers: an Android driver app, the Pacific Track PT30 vehicle device and a web portal for carriers. Duty status, hours of service, inspections and messaging live in one place. See Welcome to EZ Logs.
Is EZ Logs a registered ELD?
Not yet. EZ Logs is built to the FMCSA ELD technical specification (49 CFR Part 395, Subpart B, Appendix A), and FMCSA registration is in progress. See FMCSA compliance.
What hardware do I need?
- A Pacific Track PT30 for each truck. It plugs into the truck's diagnostic port and reads engine hours, odometer, speed and GPS.
- An Android phone or tablet for each driver (Android 7.0 or newer, with Bluetooth Low Energy).
- Any modern web browser for the carrier portal.
Does it work on iPhone?
No. The driver app is Android only.
Where do I get the app?
It is installed from a download link that the carrier gets in the portal, not from the Google Play Store. See Installing the driver app.
Does the app work without signal?
Yes. Records are saved on the phone first and synced when the phone is back online. See Sync issues.
Which languages are available?
The driver app is available in English and Español. Roadside inspection screens are always shown in English for the officer. The carrier portal is in English.
How much does it cost?
Simple per-vehicle-per-month pricing. New companies can start a 14-day free trial with no credit card. For a quote, email hello@ezlogs.co.
Which hours-of-service rules are supported?
US property-carrying rules: 11-hour driving, 14-hour window, 30-minute break and the 60-hour / 7-day or 70-hour / 8-day cycle, with the 34-hour restart. The carrier picks the cycle and the 24-hour period start in its settings.
What happens to my data?
ELD records are kept for at least 6 months as the ELD rule requires, with a separate backup copy. Location is part of every ELD record; during personal conveyance it is stored at reduced precision (about 10 miles). Driver location and hours-of-service data are not used for advertising. Read the full Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
How do I contact EZ Logs?
Email hello@ezlogs.co. Drivers should contact their carrier first about logins, trucks and log edits.
