Pairing a PT30 by QR code
Scan the QR sticker on the PT30 to connect it to the driver app, or find it manually in the list of nearby ELDs.
The Pacific Track PT30 is the ELD device in the truck. It plugs into the truck's diagnostic port, powers up with the engine and talks to the EZ Logs app over Bluetooth. The QR sticker on the PT30 holds its Bluetooth address, so scanning it connects the app to the right device without searching.
Before you start
- The PT30 is plugged into the truck's diagnostic port and the engine is running.
- Bluetooth is on and the phone is near the PT30 (in the cab).
- You are signed in and have picked your truck. See Signing in and out of the driver app.
Connect by scanning the QR code
- Open the ELD tab.
- On Scan QR code on the ELD (Fastest way to connect a new truck), tap Scan QR code.
- The first time, the app explains why it needs the camera. Tap Allow camera and allow it in the Android prompt. The camera is used only on this screen; no pictures are taken or saved.
- On Connect ELD, point the camera at the QR sticker on the PT30 (Point at the QR sticker on the ELD).
- The app shows Checking the ELD..., then connects. You see Connected to the ELD.
If the ELD is linked in the portal to a different truck than the one you signed in to, the app asks first. See Binding a PT30 to a vehicle.
If you see Not a supported ELD QR code, you scanned another code. Scan the sticker on the PT30 itself.
Find the PT30 manually
Use this if the sticker is damaged or the camera is not available.
- On the ELD tab, tap Find device manually, or scroll to Can't scan? Find device manually on the scan screen.
- Nearby ELDs are listed closest first, with a signal hint such as Very close or Far away. Pacific Track devices show up as PT30_ followed by the last 4 characters of the code on the sticker.
- Tap the PT30 in your truck to connect. A device the app recognises for your truck is marked likely this truck.
Check that it is working
On the ELD tab:
- The status shows Connected · receiving engine data once engine data is arriving.
- The PAIRED DEVICE card shows the PT30 name, ELD paired with this truck, and a live status such as Live · VIN matched.
- The card lists the Serial, Firmware, Bluetooth address and Engine data.
- The status bar at the top of the app shows the PT30 as connected.
If the status stays on Waiting for data, see No engine data.
Stored events
While the phone is away from the PT30, the PT30 keeps recording and stores the events. When the app reconnects it fetches them automatically. The stored-events card shows Events up to date or how many events are still waiting. If a fetch did not finish, tap Fetch stored events.
Next time
You only scan once per truck. When you sign in to the same truck again, the app connects automatically to the ELD linked to that truck in the portal, or to the one you last used in it. On the ELD tab you can:
- Disconnect from the PT30 (logging needs it connected while you drive).
- Connect to the remembered PT30 again, or Forget it.
Note: keep the app running while you drive. If the app cannot keep logging in the background, it says so: keep the app open, or grant the Bluetooth, location and notification permissions in More > Settings > Permissions.
