Driver questions
Quick answers for drivers about logging in, the PT30, editing logs, inspections, malfunctions and the app.
Who gives me my login?
Your carrier creates your account and gives you your ELD username and a first password. Use only your own login, never another driver's. See Signing in and out of the driver app.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
On the sign-in screen tap Forgot password?, enter your email or ELD username and tap Send code. If no code arrives, your carrier can set a temporary password for you.
Do I have to scan the PT30 every day?
No. You scan the QR sticker once per truck. After that the app connects automatically when you sign in to that truck. See Pairing a PT30 by QR code.
The app says the ELD belongs to another unit. What now?
You may be signed in to the wrong truck. If you are driving the other unit, tap Change vehicle. See Binding a PT30 to a vehicle.
Does the app record driving by itself?
Yes. When the truck moves, the app switches you to Driving automatically. When the truck stops for 5 minutes, it asks Vehicle stopped; if you don't answer, it records On duty. See Duty statuses.
Can I change my driving time?
No. Automatically recorded driving time cannot be shortened or changed to another status (49 CFR 395.30(c)(2)). You can add notes and fix other entries, and your carrier can propose corrections that you accept or reject. The original record is always kept. See Edits and edit requests.
Do I need signal to log?
No. Logging works offline. Records upload when you are back online. Don't uninstall the app while records are waiting to upload. See Sync issues.
What do I do at a roadside inspection?
Open More > Roadside inspection and hand the phone to the officer, or send your records to FMCSA when the officer asks. See Roadside inspection and the Roadside data transfer instruction sheet.
The app shows an ELD malfunction. Can I keep driving?
Yes, but on paper. Tell your carrier in writing within 24 hours, keep paper logs until the ELD is fixed, and have the previous 7 days ready for an inspector. A data diagnostic is different: you can keep driving on the ELD. See ELD malfunctions and Malfunctions and diagnostics.
Can I use personal conveyance or yard moves?
Only if your carrier allows them for you. See Personal conveyance and yard moves.
My co-driver and I share a truck. Do we need two phones?
No. Your co-driver can sign in on the same phone with their own username and password while the truck is stopped, and each of you keeps a separate log. See Team driving.
Can I use the app in Spanish?
Yes. Choose Español under More > Settings > Language. Roadside inspection screens stay in English for the officer. See Changing the app language.
Can I see my logs on a computer?
Yes. Sign in at https://portal.ezlogs.co with the same login to review your logs, certifications and edit requests.
