Trailers and shipping documents
Enter the trailer and shipping document numbers on your logs, and hook or drop trailers in My trailer.
There are two separate things in EZ Logs:
- The trailer and shipping document numbers on your logs. These are part of your record of duty status and the officer sees them at roadside. You always enter them yourself.
- My trailer (hook and drop). This tells your carrier which trailer is on your truck and where you dropped it. It is shown when your carrier has turned it on.
Hooking or dropping a trailer in My trailer never changes the numbers on your logs on its own.
Trailer and shipping document on your logs
- On the HOS tab, tap Trailer & shipping doc.
- In Trailer number(s), type the trailer number. Separate several with commas.
- In Shipping document number, type the bill of lading or shipping document number.
- Tap Save.
The numbers appear on the Log tab under Shipping & trailer and in the roadside inspection header. Update them every time you change trailer or load.
Hook a trailer (My trailer)
- Open More > My trailer (or the trailer row on the HOS tab).
- Tap Hook trailer.
- Scan the trailer's QR code or barcode. If you can't scan, tap Can't scan? Enter the trailer number and search your company trailers or type the number.
- Confirm Hook trailer ...?.
If the trailer is hooked to another truck, the app tells you and hooking moves it to your truck. A trailer marked Out of service or Retired by your carrier can't be hooked; ask your dispatcher which trailer to take. A trailer marked In the shop can be hooked, but the app shows the status first.
After hooking, the app asks Update the trailer number on your logs? and shows the current (Now) and New numbers. Tap Update logs to use the new number on your logs, or Not now to keep the current one.
Drop a trailer
- Open More > My trailer.
- Tap Drop trailer and confirm.
Your carrier sees where you dropped it. The app again offers to update the trailer number on your logs.
Reefer temperature
For a reefer trailer with a temperature sensor, My trailer shows the BOX TEMPERATURE, the setpoint and whether it is On target or you should Check temp.
What if
- "Choose your truck first": trailers are hooked to the truck you are signed in to. Pick your truck first.
- You are offline: hooks and drops are saved and sent when you are online ("waiting to sync").
- The number is not in the list: you can still use the number you typed; EZ Logs checks it with your company when the hook is sent.
