Installing the driver app

Get the EZ Logs Android app from the download link, install it, allow the permissions it needs and sign in.

The EZ Logs driver app runs on Android phones and tablets (Android 7.0 or newer) with Bluetooth Low Energy. There is no iPhone version.

The app is not in the Google Play Store. It is installed from a download link (an APK file):

  • Admins: on your dashboard, the Get started with EZ Logs checklist has a Download the app link in the Get drivers on the app step. Send that link to your drivers together with their login (see Adding drivers).
  • Drivers: ask your carrier for the link.

Install the app

  1. Open the download link on the phone and download the APK file.
  2. Open the downloaded file. If Android asks, allow Install unknown apps for your browser or file manager.
  3. Android's Play Protect may warn that it does not recognise the app. Choose to install anyway.
  4. Open EZ Logs.

To update, install the newer APK the same way. It installs over the old version and keeps your logs on the phone.

Allow permissions

The app asks for these permissions when it needs them:

You can check them later in More > Settings > Permissions. Tap Allow access to ask again, or App settings to open Android's settings for EZ Logs.

Important: if Android battery saving stops apps in the background, logging can be interrupted. Do not restrict EZ Logs in your phone's battery settings, and leave Resume logging after reboot on in More > Settings.

Sign in

  1. On Driver login, enter your Email or ELD username and Password from your carrier and tap Log in.
  2. Pick your truck and connect the PT30. See Signing in and out of the driver app and Pairing a PT30 by QR code.

You can switch the app to Spanish under More > Settings > Language. See Changing the app language.

Note: the sign-in screen also has Fleet owner? Create a company account for owners who don't have an EZ Logs account yet. Drivers don't need it.
