Editing your log and answering edit requests
Correct your own duty status records with a reason, and accept or reject edits proposed by your carrier.
You can correct mistakes in your own log, and your carrier can propose corrections that you accept or reject. Every edit keeps the original record, so the change history is always visible to you, your carrier and an officer (49 CFR 395.30(c)).
Edit your own record
- Open the Log tab and go to the day with Previous day / Next day.
- In the Events list, tap the duty status record to correct.
- In Edit duty status:
- pick the correct status from the list, and/or
- move the time earlier or later with the - and + buttons (15 minutes per tap);
- type the Reason for the edit (required) (4 to 60 characters), for example "Forgot to go off duty at the shipper".
- Tap Save edit.
The original record is kept as Inactive-changed and the new one is added with origin Driver. If the day was already certified, re-certify it (see Certifying your logs).
Important: you can't shorten or change driving time that the ELD recorded automatically, and you can't edit records that were already changed. Only duty status records can be edited.
Edit requests from your carrier
Your carrier can propose a correction from the portal, for example adding a missing on-duty period. Carriers can only propose edits to days you have certified. The edit is not applied until you accept it.
When there are requests waiting:
- the Log tab shows how many (for example 1 edit request from carrier);
- More > Edits & unidentified driving shows how many are waiting for you.
To answer:
- Open More > Edits & unidentified driving (or tap the edit request count on the Log tab).
- Under Carrier edit requests, each Proposed change shows the New record and the record it Replaces.
- Tap Accept to apply it, or Reject to refuse it. When rejecting you can type a Reason (optional), then tap Confirm.
- If you accepted, go to the Log tab and re-certify the day.
Decisions are saved on the phone and sent when online. Decided requests appear under History, marked Accepted, Rejected or Cancelled by carrier.
Note: you are never required to accept an edit you believe is wrong. If you reject it, your log stays as it was.
On the log
Records with an edit request show Change requested; a refused request shows Change rejected. Each record also shows its origin, meaning who made it: ELD (auto), Driver, Other user (your carrier) or Unidentified.
Team driving
If driving was recorded for the wrong team driver, long-press the driving record on the Log tab and choose Reassign driving to the co-driver. See Team driving.
